Gunflint Lake Cabin

Remote cabin near Ontario Canada only accessible by boat or snowmobile.

This is our cabin in Ontario, Canada, on Gunflint Lake. It is in a remote area, accessible only by boat or snowmobile, no electricity.
The north shore of Gunflint Lake suffered a forest fire in 2007 and we built the cabin that winter. You can see the trucks taking logs across the lake in the winter.

  • Nice one. I thought the trucks were driving on a road, I didn’t realize they were driving across the lake. Neat how they build it, then cut openings with chainsaws! Hey, how come no one ever sends me pix of their cool place to publish in my blog?

Wow, those immensely heavy trucks driving on a lake…I’m in awe of the cold in your area! Really nice job on the interior details. Beautifully done.

Oh, what fun to stumble upon this set of pictures this morning! It feels like yesterday that those trucks were all lined up, filled with logs and ready to go. Despite the hardship of the fire and its aftermath, this is a wonderful example of all the good things that can come out of a bad situation. I love your little cabin! But more importantly, I love the friendships that we have developed as a result of it all. :^) Barb
