I don’t feel I missed anything beyond this form of life. Yes, I gave up a lot of stuff-books, clothing and other unnecessary things we all registers. But gained freedom. Real freedom. Freedom of movement, that allows me to live near the beach, in the beautiful wooded area, or even in the city. Freedom from taxes, electricity, cable companies and corporations.

Awesome, how much did it cost, do you have plans available? My son would love one of these and so would I.
beautiful. wish i new someone to help me get to that point. that point of freedom. awesome job!
You can do this… YOU CAN GET TO THIS POINT… Take action! π
I do wonder how he keeps his computer chair from sliding all over the place when driving.
Tibetan Mind Control
Great π
Great! Now EVERYONE KNOWS!
Why did it cost so much? It seems excessive to spend so much on a bus/camper, to renovate a house can be done for a fraction of the cost.
Reading the original Hebrew text from the article, the word “shekel” was kind of erroneously translated to “dollar.” An Israeli shekel is worth about 0.29 of an American dollar, so that would explain why the numbers seem so large.
It never was a comparison between a house reno vs a ‘camper’.
It was always about freedom and expression.
This man painted a rainbow of simple truth… He wasn’t looking for a financial return on his investment…
Nails.
Probably puts the wheel lock on.
I got your plans from stumbleupon.com Please let me know if there are plans to make a home like yours. I think it is wonderful.
I bought a camper for $4000 American Dollars. I have a pick-up that pulls it. Anyone can do this. You aren’t truly free though. You still have to pay for gas and food. These campers don’t get good gas mileage. Pulling my camper, I probably get 10 mpg. A motor home gets even worse gas mileage. You still need some way to make money to pay for your food and gas. And most campgrounds make you pay for a spot. There are places where you can stay for free, I’m sure. My camper doesn’t have solar panels, but that would help you be more self sufficient…so you wouldn’t have to have a campsite with electricity. Good luck with your dreams. Someday I will get in my camper and go to the ocean in the winter and the mountains in the summer! Planning on working at a fun little job like working at a gift shop or even a campground host so I can stay free at the campground. Hopefully will have time to paint and create!
Dear Joe,
This is absolutely stunning – my family and I are planning a similar escape – may I ask how you have sorted out the food situation? We will be growing our own via a homestead in the mountains – how have you done it? Very much looking forward to your reply!
All the best,
Kai.
Your Wagon’s Interior look Awesome……………. its like Dream Home….
joe u are the man, how much does it cost i want one
This is amazing! My husband talks about hitting the road like this once our kids are off to college….looks awesome!
The biggest dream… No words for it
WOW I love the timber, very nice I have a Euro Cargo Iveco and one day I would love to place a mobile home on it to travel around Australia. I love freedom too but I love a home base more with a garden!
the swoon house is fantastic
very cool! my Husband & I have talking about doing something like this! We will he is very creative.
omgoodness, to live the life you live, just touches my soul…God Bless you in your journeys..peace and God Bless.
Ugh.. Why does everyone always feel the need to call upon imaginary creatures to bless things. GROW UP! Imagine how people would look at you if you went around saying “Oh may Santa bless you..” as an adult. Thats just as foolish. You’re grown, time to put away childish things, and imaginary friends.
I take it fedoras are a major component of your wardrobe.
needs more fedoras
Pardon the pun, but amen to that! It’s 2013 and we’re not cave-dwelling retards. All gods were created by man to control and manipulate the masses. If you disagree with me then you’ve proven my point.
I really appreciate your open-mindedness and the way you so lovingly accept diverse opinions from others! You do such a wonderful impersonation of a human being, it must have taken years of practice!!!
Your mother has to be ever so proud!
Yet, it is funny how the people that don’t believe in God seem to be the angry unhappy ones. Well, their posts seem to be angry, unhappy, or at the very least judgmental.
Why do you feel the need to interfere in someones life? Does it make you happy to upset people? GET OVER YOURSELF!
Fuck you ( Imagine that ) You faggot
I don’t understand why people need to call out other people for their individual beliefs. I’m agnostic, so I’m not critical towards theists for claiming to KNOW there is a god, or atheists for claiming to KNOW there isn’t. I suppose you have just as much freedom to needlessly impose your unoriginal argument on this person as they do to type god bless at the end of their post. God bless america! Sorry promise, I know that just makes you say ugh.
Why are you so bothered by someone you don’t even know? why do you feel the need to be a douchebag because someone believes differently than you. What is your problem.
agree with you!! That appears to be enough solar energy to power a small community. Why would you possibly need so much power?
May ugly crap bless you! Is that better?
Because Santa is a figment of people’s imagination, whereas God walks with me and talks with me and tells me I am His own every day.
if you are hearing voices in your head – there is a name for that – schizophrenia
Gorgeous…..Your project Β«fitΒ» exactly with my project! Congratulations…..
Absolutely beautiful!!
Amazing house on wheels, absolutely stunning! Alistair, UK
How much did this cost? Beautiful, by the way.
would like to know how u figured enough watts to service ur home…how many solar panels isn’t enough to figure it out. looking into simple, small living, but wanted to know the electical freedom of all this. so how did u figure…what equation, i guess..help me…lol
Perfectly perfect!
I absolutely adore this. Beautiful job! Thank you for sharing.
That is just beautiful.
GORGEOUS!!!
This place is the bomb! I could totally live here if it had an oven. Would also want a stackable washer/dryer, if possible.
That is beautiful and the space is used so well. I am curious, did you build a slideout? It looks like the couch and dinette are in a slideout. Also I would love to see what you did for the bathroom.
This is Absolutely Awesome! Something I would dearly love.
Nice i wish i would have had this when i was a HOBO!! it would have been much better than MY PUP TENT!!
Love. It.
I too am wanting to build my own tiny home. do you have any advice ?
A fantastic restoration and use for a truck as a home. Lovely interior. Well done
Joe, your home is simply beautiful!! but I’m wondering if there is a slide out? looks very spacious on the inside! lucky you π
Very beautiful! I could totally live there.
It’s always interesting too see tiny house from around the world. I don’t really understand though why it cost over $400,000 US dollars. That’s a scary price tag.
What is the power plant that lets you move from place to place? Fossil fuel?
Fabulous
That is fantastic!!! I’m gonna learn to do that.
I realize that everyone has a different aesthetic sense in HOW to live but >this< place is a shining example to those people who think Tiny Homes = Unibomber. Sublime elegance. I am so very happy for the man who lives here. π
For those of you asking questions, you’ll find most of your answers if you click on the link below the last photo that says “More info here.” Lots of nice details there.
I read in another article that it cost him approximately $225,000. Not bad considering the price of a luxury RV these days.
I have exactly what info I want. Check, please. Wait, it’s free? Awmeoes!
awesome mobile mancave. freedom of movement. thanks for sharing
Very unique and awesome! Love it!
“Freedom from taxes”
I don’t think so.
Next, you’re going to tell ain’t gonna die.
I really wish I had the knowledge to do something like that.
Unfortunately you are still bound to the petro-polluters and contribute to that pollution yourself, I will wait until hydrogen fuel cells are practical.
Being that this house is built on a cab-over truck, it most likely runs on diesel, which means it could also quite easily run on straight (albeit, filtered) vegetable oil with very little actual diesel being used (just enough to warm up upon starting & purge before stopping). It’s quite easy to do! Btw, I’m not talking biodiesel, either. Instead, recycling used vegetable oil that can often be obtained for free! Much better than fuel cells that require an extraordinary amount of environmentally harmful battery components to manufacture & operate, not to mention, the technology is far from being readily available to ‘Joe-Public.’
Easter Bunny Bless you!
hi.
i admire your job.
few things are missing for me [the hood over the stove for example],
but i can do it in my project.
could you tell me the size of the box? how much did
you extend the box?
sincerely,
aj
Well done!
Way to go Joe! You have done an amazing job my friend ~ God bless you brother!
Best of all this truck is in Israel, I know one of the pic right beside Jaffa where there is the wooden bench.
Kol Hakavod achi!
Israel forever!
very beautiful!!! Im gonna learn to do that
zahran
very beautiful!!!
I like it
I want to know the exact dimensions, process, and the licensing and insurance aspects.
Looks epic…admiring bro
Just so you know…. it’s a lie. He is NOT free from taxes, everything he made out of that truck had taxes… solar panels are taxed like NO other. Also, the truck is not ‘free’ either… he pays taxes for that. he pays taxes for sustainability of living, for groceries, for gas, for electricity when he hooks up at a campground when his solar panels are not working….. I can go on. The ‘hippy’ mentality drives me up the wall when someone actually claims to be “free” of things in life when they are right there in the midst of them. Sure, he may not have a cable bill or doesn’t pay rent (although he does pay ‘rent’ for where ever he sets up camp).
It’s truly amazing because the truck front (engine) that he has is from a HUGE corporation who specializes in the creation of those types of trucks. So, everything he THINKS he is free of, he isn’t. He just found a way to live a more frugal lifestyle than most other people and there is nothing wrong with that. There IS something wrong with someone claiming to live a certain way they are CLEARLY not. That is all…
Awesome peace of art keep up the hard work .
Good job – it gives a real taste for freedom.
No offence, but you should have laid the flooring lengthways — not crossway. it would have given an even more spacious feeling.
I really love the wood effect. Two questions that I do have though. Why is there no picture of the bathroom facilities or are there not any.. Secondly, why is the front wheel covered in the outside photograph. Just curious.
Super jealous. Very much in agreement for bucking the status quo. It looks like a beautiful life.
it’s adorable
Great Life style Joe, I have wanted something like that for more than 20 years. I feel you and understand why you choose to live the way you’re living. As a writer it has to be the hands on freedom one can ever experience God Bless
you…
Leaving the city behind… : )
Wow. It’s amazing.
You have done an amazing job on the interior. I love it. What a fabulous home.
Now thats a very content lifestyle. I wonder if this is sustainable.
This look great.
This is just a superb idea to spend a life.
You are living the dream. Enjoy.

Hey friend! My name is Phillipe and i am from Brazil. Would like to say that you are my hero. Thats a great form to live. Next the sky, the plants and animals. I would love to live like you, but here in Brazil, thats not so posible like in your country. Here we donΒ΄t have this kinda cars or they are veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery expensive.
Hugs from Rio, bub!!!!!!!!!!
Stay in peace!
Love it! Love it! Love it! You rule, Joe! What a great way to get away from the burdens of the establishment!
this is perfect.
Awesome!!
It would be a dream come true to live like you.
This is so cool. I would love to live like this.
OOO so liveable and oh so charming! Very nicely created, furnished, and decorated! Love it!
Ummmm give up books? Get a Kindle bro…got enough solar energy to charge one up for eternity from that roof! lol
Wow, that is just stunning. It doesn’t look that big on the outside but the way the space is used internally is amazing. Very inspirational.
Very cool idea.. i would love to do this or something simmilar.. can you guestimate how much it costs??
Gr8House! Looks like Free Rent!
WANT!
Good for you Joe.. I don’t want to be a slave to society either.. Living off of the grid is so ideal and more affordable than this life in San Francisco where a loaf of bread is an astounding $5.00.. Sure, it may be nice to live in San Francisco, but when all of your earned income goes towards rent.. where is the fun in life? I am with you..
Joe’s got the “boot” on his front tire, he must of tried to park it in San Francisco for the night.. ha ha.. just kidding.. although, they have passed ordinances here where anything over so many feet long has to be moved and can not be parked in certain areas overnight.. the good thing with that though is… you actually have to answer your door to receive the citation.. i don’t know about you, but I don’t answer my door unless I am expecting somebody… ha ha..
This is a childhood dream come true.
Very Beautiful and charming …
This is an amazing escape from the reality. Congratulations on the freedom you have obtained!
I hope you enjoy this π
My only question is… How do you shower? Heehee
Real freedom… Happy trails

Loved the Truck House. It’s beautiful than most houses I have seen.
Feels good to know/see when people follow their dreams. π
WOW Such a beautiful House.
Wow, that is really cool and looks like excellent workmanship. I wish I had the skills to create something like this. nice job!
I want to do this very thing. My mental plan to build one using a 26′ Uhaul type moving truck. The one with the “granny’s attic” space above the cab. I want to use Pallets and Reclaimed wood for most of the siding and inner structure with only the frame being new wood if possible. What kind of plumbing are you running? Are you using a composting toilet? How about hot water? So many questions!!
