Beautiful home! I’m curious to know what the finished height of the loft at its highest point was up there? Looks far more spacious to me than most – a shed roof design is the way to go it seems. Thanks for sharing!
The headroom in the loft is 4 feet on the high side and about 3 on the low side at the foot of the bed. It’s enough room to sit up in comfortably, something rare for a tiny house. I still cannot for the life of me figure out why everyone else chooses a traditional gabled roof and has no loft space as a result!
One of the nicest tiny homes I’ve ever seen! It’s great to see how it stands up to being lived in. Aside from the climbing-up part, I could envision living in a house like yours very happily. Bravo!
I am with Tracy. I understand the need to put the bedroom up top so as not to loose a lot of floor/day-time living space. Being an older adult, I need to find something I know I can climb into, thus stairs, versus ladders which seem to have a steeper incline.
What a wonderful example of minimalism! – such a good example for everyone of us in this hyper-materialistic world. Well done on the design – every space is used to its fullest potential.
Alek – absolutely brilliant. Tiny homes now are becoming more like a fine piece of furniture that people live in and your home is a prime example – a new benchmark. Tiny house builders – take note.
Sweet 17″ AG MBP setup! Are you a programmer? I’m excited to hook up the tech in our tiny house when I finish it. I also have a 17″ AG MBP, and I think it’s the perfect machine for a tiny house. Ultimate power with portability that you can hide away.
Great house, by the way! I love the combo of dark floors with light walls.
The trailer is a standard 20 foot flatbed trailer with some modifications. I had them add 3 feet opposite the tongue side to support the porch and I added many brackets that extend out to the 8 feet width to support the subfloor framing and to bolt the house onto the trailer in as many places as possible. One of the nicest tiny houses I’ve seen, very good job. Wish I would have stumbled upon this sooner, you could have stayed at our place in the Boulder area when you came through. Read your building details on your blog site as well. Noticed that Thom Krystofiak helped you. He’s a friend of mine when we lived and worked in FF. Enjoy your life in this amazing home!
This is one of my favorite tiny houses I’ve seen. Great work on the design. Looks super livable, with wonderful functionality. Also probably the best looking interior. Love it. Wish I had the same eye for style & design. Feel free not to post, but what was your approximate budget on that project?
Obviously striking a real chord among us appreciators of tiny homes that are very well done! The kitchen looks very workable, though I might run a narrow shelf from the oven area under the window to the other side; it looks like it wouldn’t impede the fridge door and give a bit more work space (that’s just me though!) Good work, the loft looks really comfortable! Thank you for sharing your home with us.
This is absolutely gorgeous. You have all the storage covered and the personal business. You must be a very thoughtful person for such wonderful details. Your girlfriend is a very lucky lady. By the way it was -18 in IA where I live. Warmed up to -10 right now. You are lucky to be in CA. Enjoy.
Beautiful home, Alek! You’re quite the craftsman. Your design really make good use of space I’ll bet you have some great views. It looks really comfortable. I am curious about your “skinny” bathroom sink. Is it a little messy to use, or does it work out alright. I would think water splashing would be a problem.
Not only is this the stove, but I’ve saved you a lot of searching and found the best price out there. They say out of stock but will order it and ship directly from manufacturer. Give them a call. http://www.suremarineservice.com/2374-2001.aspx
I love all the windows and all the light! The dark floors look great with the light walls. Ceiling is beautiful.
One comment mentioned being older and having difficulty with ladders to sleeping lofts. This has been the one big concern for my husband and I (mid to late 60’s) as we plan for a change into a tiny house. Your choice of “ladder” looks more doable than a regular ladder.
I also really like that your loft window can slide open for ventilation. Ceiling fan is very nice for keeping the air moving.
Kitchen and bath have everything one would need. Nice touch with slide out shelves.
So light and bright. Thank you for sharing.

Could you post info on where one could find the stove/oven which you show in your photos?
Thanks.

What type of wood is used on the walls and the floor in the loft.
VERY WELL DONE!! What did type of wood did you use for the floors/ceiling? Also curious where you found your little stainless gas stove? Thanks Lj
The ceiling is blue-stain, beetle-kill ponderosa pine from http://www.sustainablelumberco.com. The flooring is carbonized strand bamboo from http://www.greenbuildingsupply.com. Best price on the propane range I found is here: http://www.suremarineservice.com/2374-2001.aspx
Thanks so much for taking the time to answer my questions. Your house is definitely something to aspire to!

An absolutely amazing home. Well done!

Congratulations Alek, Anjali and Anya!
Really nice, what size trailer did you build it on?

My favorite tiny home yet! Really designed for actual living and working in! What a terrific job you did!

How tall is the finished structure at its highest point? I’m wondering about height restrictions on the roads and clearance. Thanks!
Very well done. Simple design. Thank you for sharing.

Would you mind sharing the model of that stove please? I love it! Can’t seem to find one like it myself searching the net.

Read the comments above re stove.
This is by far one of the best tiny houses I’ve ever seen. So much storage, I love the layout and the bedroom!
