I LOVE how you made a partial non-staircase staircase out of shelving units. One could presumably stow the ladder above while entertaining and use the first steps for serving food/drinks, end table, or a couple of extra seats.
I do not understand the short ladder on top of the refrigerator cabinet. A child may be able to climb that narrow space but not a hefty adult. Using the lower steps for shelving or storage is nice. The current seating area looks cramped.
