    Love this! It is perfect.

Another very cookie cutter type THOW. I wonder if this house was built to order or if they just build these plain for a reason?

It may be basic but you should really reconsider your tone lest people stop sharing photos of their tiny homes. I am currently in the process of constructing my tiny home and can attest first hand to the complexities of considering design while constructing… not mention the consideration of weight. Sometimes a builders skill-set may require them to keep it simple particularly if it their first construction to ensure quality over aesthetics. I applaud them in hopefully for building a home for which they didn’t have to pay a bank to own. That’s what it’s all about of for me. If you don’t have anything pleasant to say you really shouldn’t say anything.

I like this blog better when it’s more about tiny houses built by their owners with love and care versus some manufacturer rolling out a new model.

I like this blog and the ideas presented even those where the design is uninspired. In this unit the sink is in the corner which is just awful if you have ever had a corner sink. the wall cabinets instead of those open shelves are a welcome change. however maybe over stove burners is not best. I really believe an exhaust fan is best over a range in a tiny house. fry bacon on monday, still smell it on thursday does not appeal to me. I like when people use the 3 burner and oven slide in ranges that I think were originally designed for boats. they make sense in a small house that needs a real kitchen. Also I am not liking the current design choice of washer/dryer one piece instead of a stackable because the one piece do not function well and use much power. If there is water for the washer and the sink, why is there a litter box toilet? The THOW are to RV specs and RV’s have flush toilets. if one is going to plant their tiny house then sewer or septic is sensible.
There is a disconnect in logic in these designs. I do not wish to criticize this particular design, but rather question the concept in general use…. This appears to be well constructed and making an effort to respond to what buyers say they need/ want.

Kristina, it looks like the toilet is plumbed into a water line somehow, as there is a water line shutoff valve in the photo right behind it. I do agree with not using a combo washer / dryer, as I have also read repeatedly that they do notwork well – although I have no personal experience with one.

Sensible is just a matter of perspective. Try a perspective that doesn’t revolve around the way you currently live. No offence but, just because something is used by the majority doesn’t make it more sensible, practical, or better ……………. only more common. To live in a tiny house you have to rethink nearly everything! Its not for everyone. There are no specs on these dwellings.

Kristina, I think it’s an awesome house. It may seem uninspired for a narrow minded person but for people that can see potential and that understand that one designs the structure and not always have a say in the interior decoration. However, I believe that the designer designed this tiny home having in mind the basic needs we all have, and what the family needed. It seems like, some said in other comments, a “cookie cutter” design but that’s not a bad thing. I would love to buy this and then I can paint it and design it like I want. Not everybody can design and build their own house but can make some tweeks here and there. The stove being under a window is a really good idea and you don´t even need an exhaust fan. The top cabinet are not directly on top of the stove so they are perfectly located like in any other kitchen. I’ve had a corner sink and it’s exactly the same as a non corner one. I don’t understand why we need the combo washer/dryer. The only need for the dryer is if you live in really humid weather or extreme cold temperatures, if you’re in a average climate you can hang the cloths to dry and use less electricity and also if you didn´t know they make one washer that washes and dries all in one single machine. Also, like someone else pointed out, when you live in a compact space you have to make do with the basic things and that is not a bad thing, I really think that this shows us that we don´t need huge houses to be able to have a comfortable life. I would love to live in a tiny house like this and have the backyard I desire.

Actually most THOW have compost or incinerator toilets, not flushable. The key here is to limit weight and take advantage of limited space. By using these types there is no need for a black water tank which takes up space and adds weight that is not needed.

gorgeous house! cookie-cutter yes, but still very nice. i wonder why the previous poster doesn’t like corner sinks? i’ve never used one but it looks intersting. 🙂

  • Dorothy says:

It might be “cookie cutter” but to me that gives me an opportunity to design the inside and outside space to reflect my personal likes. I’ve read that the stove under a window is a bad thing. Can’t imagine what is wrong with a corner sink except maybe for losing some floor space.

  • Andy says:

I too think that this is a deeply boring, cookie cutter house just thrown together with little thought to design or individuality. It’s boring, it looks cheap and it is entirely devoid of any personality whatsoever.

    • Andy,

I would love to share the truth with you! We took the time to design a trailer that is safe on and off the road. Our homes travel 65 mph on the highway and the home isn’t damaged nor does it send projectiles to hurt others. The trailer will hold 18,000 lbs. which is far more than the inside weighs. The countertop is Corian to prevent cracking on the move. Everything has been done for a purpose. The furniture was chosen and put in by the owners. It is not a model it is a family’s vacation cabin. We built it to meet their needs. The second loft is for their daughter who will be home at Christmas. The sofa makes into a bed and there will be an entertainment center for the family. This is a beautiful home that hasn’t had the chance for the pictures to be hung. Please let our customers put these up and enjoy their vacation cabin more.

      Thank you!
      Cheryl

I really like this….it has great potential and looks very clean! Anybody see a price tag on this puppy?

  • Lisa says:

I don’t see what’s the fuss. This house is cute and practical. When the owner moves in, so will the charm.

  • TS says:

CHERYL COATES, I love it. Is it just me, or does anyone else not notice that Cheryl has designed what her customers wanted, AND left them enough room to be creative and add their own touch?

  • Kristina says:

Looks well built and solid. I think the corner sink adds visual interest and is a good use for the smaller space. Looks like the family wanted a large living space to fit a couch. I imagine this will be a super cozy place for exactly what the customer wanted. I love that this family has a tiny house to enjoy!

  • Lori Lamb says:

I think it is simple, yet wonderful. I love it. Price? Just curious.

  • Susan says:

This is one of the best tiny houses I’ve seen in terms of space. There is plenty of room to relax in, yet there is lots of storage. I think the kitchen design is great. Love all the windows and the multiple sleeping areas. This is a layout I’d like for myself. Colors and design elements would probably be slightly different for me, but other than that, it’s perfect as is.
