The White Elephant

We thought you might be interested in our Tiny House, on the Indonesian island of Bali. We built this over 15 months, inspired by the traditional design of the Balinese Rice Barn but upsized to live in, with two levels and a loft. The bathroom is indoor but on an open terrace with curtains for modesty if required. There is a kitchenette, lounge, bedroom upstairs and the loft for meditation and reading. The name The White Elephant came to us when building and we worried that was what we were building – ‘a white elephant’! But it turns out people love it and we love sharing it with friends and family. We could happily live in this space – there is plenty of room for indoor-outdoor living in the tropical climate.

A two-level home in Bali. More info. here.

Wow, wow, wow! So elegant! The streaky white paint on the interior (especially the floor) adds a really unique character.

Wow! This is an incredible tiny home… I absolutely love every inch of it, and the tropical setting makes it that much more appealing with the airy openness. Are plans available for this? Sure would love to build this somewhere in southern California! Thank you for sharing with us!

It’s beautiful, I wish I was there! I had an amazing time in Bali many years ago in a tiny little beach hut – this would have been even more magical.

It is very strange that JendelaDiBali,Resort in Ubud, Bali, has an exact replica of the White Elephant, furniture, fittings etc. and while I admire it’s beauty, taste and flair I wonder who did build it!

Absolutely beautiful and gorgeous. Me too has the plan to half retire at Solo Indonesia. Wish to built a little house somewhere around with some Balinese style. Your sharing gives me courage to plan on that. Wish you well always.
