Vine Cabin

A tiny cabin in the UK built by John’s two teenage sons.

Our sons ( then in their late teens) built this cabin about 10 years ago out of timber we had reclaimed from a cattle shed we were taking down. When they finished it, they asked if they could sleep in it that night.. They stayed in it, never coming back to sleep in the house until they left for university!. It is now used by our guests, when they come here to on canoe building holidays, and in the winter we rent it to people looking for a rural retreat. People can use our canoes on the river here, which runs about 10 metres from the cabin. Situated in the Wreake Valley in rural Leicestershire, England.

A tiny house used as a guest house and vacation rental in Leicestershire, UK located at Birch Canoes. here.

Thank you Deborah, yes it was a splendid opportunity, although it was sad that the dairy cows had been sold, which is why the timber became available. It was such a fun thing to do, they designed the cabin around the wood they had salvaged, and couldn’t wait to try it out… in those days we didn’t let them have a heater in there, as their room in the house was still heated, but they just took a couple of duvets each and put up with it! They never once got ill all through the winter. They still like to stay in it when they come home, but it is often booked out by visitors, so they have to wait their turn!
