Cinder Box is a MicroDwelling inspired by a desire to produce a prototype for small scale living and working. The 200sf unit includes a general living space with corner sliding doors opening up to an exterior porch. There is a desk alcove for a small office, a storage closet and a bookcase that doubles as a ladder to the bed loft over the desk. As a prefabricated structure, dimensioned to be easily transported, the dwelling can be placed on any lot, as a rural cabin, or as a secondary structure on urban and suburban properties.
A 200 square feet prototype tiny house. More info. here.
Nice. The smaller a structure, the larger the windows need to be to avoid a feeling of claustrophobia. This is perfect.
Cant live in there for more than a week. Too claustrophobic!
What about privacy? A place to sleep? A bathroom? Beautiful but useless for actual living.
You need to read the description at the bottom. “Cinder Box is a MicroDwelling inspired by a desire to produce a prototype for small scale living and working.” so it’s only a prototype and plus it states that it has a loft for sleeping.
Guys this is really epic. Great job. I looked in this house and it has some great potential, and is also really nice as it sits. If it fit in my backyard I would buy it. ( I have a house that needs a studio but the previous owners opted for a giant pool instead.) For all the other comments….curtains. Or use lattice with grape vines in the landscaping to obstruct the windows. This isn’t a house to be built among the suburbs lest it goes in someones back yard as a studio/guest house.
Great design features, low E impact. Could easily modify for shower/bath and a toilet. Buy 4 of them and have each one be a bathroom, bedroom, and kitchen connected by breezeways. Honestly great concept! Well done.
I have notice that the photos for many tiny homes are lacking. someone else states there is a loft , SHOW it. and yes proto-type or not you still need room for bathroom area. what is shown is pretty cool but not livable . Someone commented abot privacy – yoou could do the same as we do for our current living space
Love the modern design!
Very cool design, but I find it lacking in privacy with all the glass windows. Who’d want the neighbors staring at what you do in your own home day after day? It’d be like living in a fish bowl….

An intriguing discussion is definitely worth comment. I believe that you need to write more on this subject matter, it may not be a taboo subject but usually folks
don’t talk about these subjects. To the next! All the best!!

Curious about the design. It looks to have very thick insulation but with the corner open. I can imagine orienting the glass toward the south in winter and the north in summer to save on utility bills. Place a camper style kitchen and bathroom under the loft. What type of roofing material was used?
Beautiful prototype
