Light, open and airy. Really like it for the one level bed access. I could see a lot of people who dislike the loft concept buying into the disappearing bed. I’m trying to figure out the upper level/laundry level. Since the living area is so “large,” I wonder if a larger bathroom would be a variation on this design? Perhaps with a tub? And you could place the laundry in the bathroom, quietly separated from the living area. One way to pull that off would be to have the bed be a Murphy bed rather than a slide under. All just ideas, not criticism. Great job from design to build!

Actually, I don’t think you’d even have to change the bed to accomplish that. I think it would simply be a matter of expanding the bathroom to encompass the space the washer is in now and turning the washer around, instead of that space being part of the office area. The only other thing that I think might have to change is that the entire bathroom might need to be at the raised platform height to accomodate the tub.

Very well designed I love the bed so simple yet very user friendly.

I’ve seen this one before on this site.

This is the second variation of the minim house except it is 2 feet wider. Look up minim house and you’ll see the original. Good job on this.

Isn’t this the “Minim” plan from DC?

I love this style. I have thought about this idea for a bed since I started looking at tiny houses. I stayed at a state park cabin one time that had a bed like this. The kitchen was above the bed. How hard is it to move this house with it being wider than most of the houses?

The things I see are: the step up to get to the laundry is huge, I would extend the bed platform to be a step up and too add a panel at the end of the bed to blend it in. The laundry area is a huge waste of valuable space, should build the washer/dryer combo to be under the counter for folding, then make the bathroom larger.

Since this is a copy of the Minim house design the washer area is also the closet/storage area. Storage in this house is under the couch and in the office area.

This is absolutely adorable! I love it just the way it is!

  • Carol says:

it is based on the minim design isn’t it?

    • SC says:

yep. its definitely the Minum design! Truly one of the best tiny house design to date.
I agree with other folks who would like the washer/dryer combo as a part of the bathroom and elevate the bathroom to put in a tub.
in the kitchen I would change to a recessed sink. and range hood instead of letting cooking perfume the whole house. and a mudd station at the entry
Also add an island/chopping block like the couple in Tiny House Nation with a fold out leaf for eating.
I love the white, but it still needs color.like an accent wall.
One last thing, why in the world did they put the air conditioner so low??? Can you imagine try to work directly in line of that cold air? you will get pneumonia! the AC should be above the window, even if you have to make the window shorter.

Without a doubt, the BEST tiny house I’ve seen to date. Great job!!

I don’t think I could really go any smaller than 650 square feet, but if I had to this house would be it. Perfect design for the size. Love the light. Only change: I would put a stackable washer/dryer where the bathroom is and make the bathroom where the wash room is now.

I used to live in an apartment built in 1915 that had a bed like that. Loved it! And I’d move into this little house in a heartbeat.

I love no-loft design, but not so much the raised offce/laundry. Have you seen any ideas with a bed suspended from the ceiling, lowered by pulley at night for no loss of floor square footage? I use a pulley system for a rowboat hanging in my garage now…. Nah, sometimes you just want to go to sleep. Lovely design. The only change I’d make is to a “wet” Euro style bathroom floor, as I suspect the wood floor will too frequently get wet from the shower.

This is a rip off of the Minim House by Brian Levy. Exact same design, with some minor tweeks.

Holy crap I hope these guys get sued. This is pure intellectual property theft.

I like this design, but I think the thing no one is seeing is the total lack of clothing storage – or any storage. Why not take the design element from the Abundance and raise the floor a foot and have trap doors for storage? Since it’s single story, you can easily lose a foot of headroom. I also agree about the air conditioner. There are wall mount units that can be placed up high take little room. That would be much better. Also, it would be mildly tempting to rasie the office floor another foot, or so, and have drawers below the bed. You would get away from the feeling that you’re sleeping on the floor, and you’d get some great drawer space. You could have a flip down step stool to get up to the office space. If need be, raise the roof a few feet. There’s plenty of room to do that. Lastly, I’d absolutely make the bathroom larger. That’s really way too small. You could put one of those Japanese step-in and sit-down hot-tubs with a shower above it. Why not? And the sink needs to have a little more elbow room to the right of it. This all means the whole house probably needs to be a mere foot longer. If I had everything I wanted, I would also make the entire unit 4 feet longer and turn the front door into French doors that could open out to a deck…

doing these things would truly make this a very livable space. I LOVE the projection-screen idea, and I agree with others that a kitchen island would be a great addition, as seen in the THN episode of this design. I’m in the process of searching for a builder of this plan, with my aforementioned modifications. I’m wondering what this would cost?

    This is just beautiful !!!

  • Karen says:

Eric, did you find a builder? I need plans for a version that is 9 feet wide. Has anyone seen a smaller version than the 12-foot ones?
